Sometimes when I’m painting, I get so focused on the little details I “ruin” the painting as a whole.

I do the same thing with my life. When I focus so hard on the little failures, on having certain things being “just so,” I miss out on the fact that overall my life is pretty great. If I’m not careful, I can over-engineer all aspects of my life, making it complicated to the point that the big picture doesn’t look so great anymore.
