valentines-day-strawberry-shortcake-paper-doll-card
Valentine's Day Strawberry Shortcake Paper Doll Card

This oversized vintage Strawberry Shortcake Valentine's Day card includes a Strawberry Shortcake paper doll and 7 different outfits she can wear. The front of the card says "For a very special girl - a Strawberry Shortcake paper doll." The card is unused.

The greeting on the inside of the card says:

"Here's Miss Shortcake
And she's come to play
with brand new clothes to wear -
Bet you and she have secrets
That you just can't wait to share!
So get her outfits ready
And have fun the whole day through -
The special fun that's always wished
A Valentine like you!"

The pages with the Strawberry Shortcake paper doll and clothes are inserts attached to the card with two center staples, so the staples can be removed to release the pages without ruining the card. The staples show a bit of rust from age.

The clothing items are perforated and need to be punched out. The outfits include a set of overalls with a watering can, an apron dress with a bowl of hearts, Strawberry Shortcake's classic dress, a sailor dress with a pail and shovel, overall shorts with a basket of strawberries, a long nightgown with slippers and a drink, and another long nightgown or dress.

The back page of the card shows Custard sleeping under a strawberry plant and reads:
"Happy Valentine's Day
Lots of Love, Honey."

The card and page inserts are printed on paper with a textured finish similar to watercolor paper. This gives the illustrations a soft, slightly blurry look as though they were hand painted with watercolors - it's a lovely effect.

The outer edges of each page are darker pink with the center fading to a lighter, more yellow pink. This may be fading due to age or it may have been printed this way intentionally. The effect is fairly uniform from page to page.

The back is marked "American Greetings Corp. MCMLXXX," which is Roman numerals for the year 1980.

The card comes with a pink envelope. The envelope is slightly larger than the card itself (see measurements below), so it may not be original, but is large enough to hold the card and has the American Greetings rose embossed on the back. The adhesive is still intact, but there's a pen line on the front of the envelope, as shown in the last photo.

This card is a festive piece of ephemera for your Strawberry Shortcake collection.
