Sateen lays more thread on the surface, which is why these feel smooth against the face without the slippery, cool feel of silk. At 300 threads per square inch in a single-ply combed cotton they stay soft through weekly hot washes; the pilling that ruins cheap pillowcases comes from short fibres, and combing removes those before spinning.

Sizes and fit

Size

Pillowcase

Fits

Standard/Queen

21" x 32"

Standard 20" x 26" and Queen 20" x 30" pillows

King

21" x 40"

King 20" x 36" pillows

The Standard/Queen case has a few inches of spare length on a Standard pillow; a Queen pillow such as the Tortosa 600 loft goose down fills it properly.
